Musical School – a business idea for creative people

Andrei’s whole life passed under the sign of creativity, theater and music. First, he was educated at Tver State University and began to teach children the theater art, while writing music. His musical works are performed not only on the stage in Tver, but also on the stages of Transnistria and Penza.

Andrei began working individually with children many years ago: at first the classes were conducted exclusively in the format of private lessons, then they grew into the leadership of the theater circle, and in 2011 they became a real business.

Andrei Koryakov organized the first and, so far, the only private musical school in Tver, in which children from 4 to 17 years old study.

The opening of the school was an excellent addition to Andrei’s previous works – he already had his own folk theater, in which he played actors he had grown up, and had an exemplary children’s collective. The opening of the school helped fill the theater and the collective with new faces.

Initial investments in the School of Musical were not required. Gymnasium No. 12 provided premises for classes. Andrei recalls that at first the “School” rented a small hall, and subsequently moved to a large theater hall.

Three years later, the “School” grows and develops – makes repairs in the room, pays for utilities, acquires the equipment necessary for work, but all this came only with time. In 2011, at the opening of the School of Musical, we managed to get by with minimal expenses – for registering a legal entity, for purchasing office equipment and for advertising.

Under the program for assistance to businessmen, Andrey received 58,000 rubles from the state. No more investors were attracted to the School. All development is due to the money earned. The direction of the School is very interesting, in Tver no one is engaged in the training of young personnel in the synthetic genre (musical).

Andrei calls word of mouth the best way of advertising: if the first set of the school consisted of 95% of the children with whom he worked one way or another, then over time even those who did not fully understand what they would be doing on the school began to come In the classroom, children, what they will learn and what they can become.

Today, about 100 people attend school. All students are divided into four groups: preparatory and three main courses.

The main set of groups is made at the beginning of the school year. Classes are held weekly on Saturdays and Sundays. They teach students vocals, acting and choreography.

Are you interested in how you can motivate creative children to work efficiently and conscientiously? Andrey knows the answer to this question.

Since the children in the courses are going to be unusual, the methods of stimulating them are also unusual. Here you will not scare anyone with a deuce or a diary entry, but at the end of each course you will see a real musical, which any audience can come to: friends, grandparents, parents and teachers from school. All performances are paid, so young actors know for sure that, having performed poorly, they will scare away potential theater-goers and musical lovers from the theater. So the whole team has to work honestly!

This year, the School of Musical is releasing its first edition from its walls. Andrei is sure that if desired, the children will be able to enter the theater schools, will be able to find their place both in the tver of the Tver theater and throughout the country. In Russia, there is a large shortage of high-quality musical actors, so there will definitely be a place for talented youth.

How does Andrei plan further business?

Our hero admits that he has not yet solved the problem of scaling schools throughout the country. Already now, calls from St. Petersburg and Moscow are periodically coming to his phone number, parents dream of giving their children to the School of Musical! But Andrei is not yet ready to contact the franchise. After all, the franchisee will need to be constantly monitored, it will be necessary to check the quality of the services provided, check the selection of worthy teachers, etc.

Looking back on the path he has traveled over the past three years, Andrei says that he does not regret open business for a minute. His brainchild brings not only pleasure to its creator, but actually reveals the talents of those who go to classes at the “School”. A. Koryakov believes that the best help to business is the ability not to interfere in the natural development of the business, but the ability to recognize new development trends and boldly follow them.
